Any amount over 198,000 lbs. is considered a super load. Anything over 286,000 lbs. requires a
diagram as well as the axle spacings and axle weights.
Escort vehicle requirements can differ significantly by province in terms of mandatory driver
qualifications, training, certifications, vehicle weights, obligatory signage/flags/lighting,
necessary onboard equipment, and more. The ODS team can provide you with all additional
requirements specific to your route.
Daytime/daylight travel is from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset
Saturday travel is permitted until 3:00 PM on Saturday as per permits. No Sunday travel.
When vehicle is more than 12’5″ (3.80m) wide the vehicle shall not be operated on a highway from 3 PM
to midnight on a Friday or a day preceding a statutory holiday or on a Sunday or a statutory

Special permits are not valid for transport over a road in a city or a hamlet with a population in excess of 10,000 persons unless prior approval has been granted by the highway authority having jurisdiction over the road.
